We are in March, autumn now. In Chinese medicine, autumn is associated with metal and the lungs. In autumn we move from the external, expansive nature of summer to the internal, contractive nature of autumn.

It is a good time to begin new projects that focus more on the internal- cultivating body and mind and becoming more introspective. The energy of the lungs is “letting go”, so autumn is a good time to be mindful to let go of anything we may be holding on to so we can make room for new experiences that will help us to learn and grow.

A new Journal of Neuroimaging study in 2018 provides insights into the biochemical mechanisms by which Tai Chi — a mind-body exercise, improves brain metabolism and muscle energetics in…… I got rid of the last bit though. I personally don’t agree with the social impression that Tai Chi is primarily related to older adults. I started Tai Chi training when I was five. It benefits my whole life. All I can say is Lucky Me!  How many health issues (physical and mental health) are the young and middle-aged group facing every day? Just mention a few: stress, sleep deprivation, loneliness, no energy, lack of concentration, chronic pain…

Tai Chi is not excluding anyone; Tai Chi is for everyone! Younger you start, better it is.
