Tai Chi, a self-help and self-cultivating tool to happiness
September 2022
Hello Tai Chi friends and enthusiasts, a warm welcome to our September Newsletter!
“Man’s mind may be likened to a garden, which may be intelligently cultivated or allowed to run wild”
– James Allen ‘As a Man Thinketh’
In South Australia, many of us have the privilege to own a free-standing house with a backyard garden. Many of us enjoy gardening and are proud of the garden that is well maintained. You may visit your garden everyday, pick up some weeds, water the vegetables and plants, plant some beautiful seasonal flowers, make sure there are water and food for wild birds. You spend your time, money and energy in your garden and enjoyed just being there as it makes your happy.
How often do you garden your mind? every day, every week or every month?
As James Allen, a British philosophical writer known for his inspirational books and poetry, described in his book ‘As a Man Thinketh’ , our mind is like our garden. It needs to be nourished and cultivated on a regularly basis to keep a good order so that you can enjoy its peace and beauty, and feel happy when you visit each time. Without being looked after, your inner garden will grow lots of weed, go wild and turn into a jungle. It looks messy, ugly and you feel unhappy and disturbed when you visit each time.
Which one would you prefer? A beautiful garden vs an ugly jungle that is part of your Being?
You have the answer.
Tai Chi, is a self-help and self-cultivating tool that you can practise anytime, anywhere. You don’t need anything apart from yourself. You don’t need to be a Tai Chi master to do it. It is simple to learn for almost all fitness level, enables you to clean and cultivate your inner garden every day.
Imagine you maintain your garden (your mind) so well that is clean and tidy with colourful flowers, green grass, well-maintained plants and fruit trees, birds chirping, peaceful and beautiful to visit. When you see weeds or things are not right from time to time, it is not difficult to notice and can be easily fixed.
I hope you get the gist.
As human beings, we need to look after our body, mind and spirit- the soul on a daily basis.

Since the very first day of opening our school to public, we see our teaching standard as the most important asset. We are proud of maintaining the quality of teaching and always prefer quality over quantity in terms of group space, class design and planning, students learning outcomes and social connection. We genuinely care about our students and encourage each individual to keep up with their own standards too, the daily ritual to practice, which enables the regular maintenance and cultivation of body, mind and spirit.
What is daily ritual? Daily rituals are meaningful practices and are internally motivated.
As Tony Robbins said” It is your decision that shape your destiny, not your conditions”.
We look forward to connecting with you soon.
To your health and happiness,
Fang and Meridian Connection Tai Chi team
