Celebrate Lunar Chinese New Year: Year of the Dragon
February 2024
Hello Tai Chi students, friends and enthusiasts, a warm welcome to our February Newsletter 2024!
2024 is the Year of the Wood Dragon. Dragon is the 5th animal in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac signs, coming after the Rabbit and before the Snake. In Australia, many people with Asian origin and those who are culturally connected celebrate Chinese New Year. What does the Year of Wood Dragon mean in the realm of Chinese astrology?
It is said that this year is the combination of the powerful characteristics of the Dragon with the nurturing essence of Wood, marking Wood Dragon year with growth, vitality and the blossoming of wisdom. Sounds pretty optimistic, isn’t it? I think we all need more of this:)
An ABC article may give you a slight insight of the Lunar New Year 2024 and where the celebration is happening at various locations in Australia.

For me personally, this year will be a more Action year (more training and practice), focusing on the Unity of Knowing and Acting (in Chinese, Zhi Xing He Yi 知行合一), which concept was mentioned by Wang Yangming (1472-1529), a Chinese stateman, general and Neo-Confucian philosopher. There is various understanding of his views, however, it is well worthy of your time to investigate if you want to live a more congruent life.
Our school weekly classes started two weeks ago, it is great to see my Tai Chi and Qi Gong students back and meet many new faces! It is exciting to know what 2024 will bring you with your action in life!
An important note to make is the upcoming Chen Shi Tai Chi workshop. Master Wu is coming from Melbourne again this year to conduct this workshop. What an honor and a treat for anyone who wants to learn the Tai Chi arts and experience the power of Tai Chi pushing hands! The detailed information is at https://meridian-
Again, may your dream come true and a year with good health and prosperity in 2024, the Year of Dragon!
Yours in Tai Chi,
Fang & the team
