Tai Chi – A Sport For All

October 2024

Man can not live healthily without taking exercises. The Book of Change says “As nature is always in motion, so should man activate to strengthen himself without interruption”.

Now, Tai Chi is without question a sport that suits everybody. In practising it, the weak, the sick, the aged as well as children and women, will not find the draw-backs inseparable from exercises aiming at force and speed. No matter whether it shines or rains; no matter whether one be rich or poor, busy or leisurely, if you have ten feet square of space and can spare 8 minutes a day, you can practise Tai Chi. Many Tai Chi & Qi Gong resources are available at the website https://meridian-connection.com.au/.

Among all kinds of sports, Tai Chi is probably the easiest, the most convenient and the most economical to enable one to banish weak health or worry. It is hoped that those who know that taking exercise is indispensable to health will choose Tai Chi. So here I want to congratulate you who take Tai Chi as part of your daily exercise.

Living through Tai Chi over the past 40 years, I see it as the way of my life. I can never get bored with Tai Chi because it help me to work on myself to be a better version of me: body, mind and spirit. The passion I have is to share the power and benefit of Tai Chi with you all. For the last 12 years, we have been working with many organisations, including schools, hospitals, private businesses and corporates, community groups, non-for-profit, local governments through Tai Chi- an ancient healing arts and a sports for all.

I am so happy that we can support and empower people without barriers.

What did we do in the past two months in our communities?

– Tai Chi at Walford Anglican School for Girls to open their wellbeing week
– Tai Chi for Living Well under City of Unley wellbeing program
– Tai Chi – Move it Program
– Tai Chi, Spring into Wellbeing program
– Tai Chi at Asia Pacific Stroke Conference for medical professionals
– and more

Though Tai Chi has gained some public awareness, yet, there are still so many people who have no idea what Tai Chi is. Often they think Tai Chi is kind of Thai food, or something just for old people. It is sad to see the stigma that is associated with such a wonderful sport for all. However, I do have hope. It is hoped that more and more people will get to know Tai Chi a bit more through events and classes, so please do spread the positive vibe and health benefits of Tai Chi to your friends and local communities. After all, who does not want to stay calm, have a pliable body and a focused mind?

If you haven’t tried Tai Chi, I encourage you to give it a go. Experience now! If you have just joined our classes recently, I encourage you to be patient with yourself. It takes time for you to see the full power of Tai Chi. If you have been doing Tai Chi for a while, I encourage you to practice on a daily basis to live through Tai Chi and achieve what you are looking for.

Thank you all for your perseverance and creating our Tai Chi group not only a beautiful place to practise, but also a place to feel belonging and empower each other.

The last but not least, to share with you a well-known line in Li Sao (The Lament), a poem written by Qu Yuan ( c. 340-c. 278 BC) to express his determination to pursue the truth though the way ahead might be very long.

“路漫漫其修远兮,吾将上下而求索”. Long, long is my road, and far, far is the journey; high and low, up and down, I” search with will.

Stay well,
Fang & the Team
