Celebrate Chinese Wood Snake Year 2025
February 2025
Welcome everyone to our monthly newsletter :)
29th January marks the first day of 2025 Lunar Chinese New year, the year of Wood Snake.
Being celebrated by millions of people in China, East Asia and all over the world, lunar Chinese New Year is one of the most important holidays in Chinese culture, marking the end of winter and the beginning of the new year.
Professor Xiaohuan Zhao from the School of Languages and Cultures at the University of Sydney tells us a bit more about common beliefs and customs and what it means to be born in the Year of the Snake and the Chinese zodiac fortune predictions for 2025

People have different views about snakes from various cultural background. Historically, serpents and snakes represent fertility or a creative life force. As snakes shed their skin through sloughing, they are symbols of rebirth, transformation, immortality, and healing. The Ouroboros is a symbol of eternity and continual renewal of life.
While being aware the potential challenges in the year of Wood Snake, I am happy to take the positive characteristics from snake and serpents groups, focusing on the healing, transformation and vitality.
How wonderful to see you back to the class last Wednesday on the first day of Lunar Chinese New Year!
We started our Tai Chi and Qi Gong classes with greetings and new year wishes to each other. We also welcomed new members. Some students told me that they really missed the class during summer long holiday and glad to be back. Our Term 1 classes offer calming and energetic Wild Goose Qi Gong and Tai Chi for Beginners, plus our Wu Dang Fu Chen (Whisk- soft weapon). Each class is designed to provide the stillness and active movements, energy work, to connect your mind, body and spirit, gain insight of yourself on a deeper level.
Wish you all a healthy, happy and prosperous Wood Snake Year! Let’s make 2025 the year for your wishes come true❤️
Best wishes,
Fang & the Team
