Healthy Mum is a Happy Mum

The weather has been incredibly beautiful in Adelaide though I pray for some good rain (without wind!) for our farmers whose work is essential in our society.

Mother’s Day is on this Sunday. I wish every mum who has done so much, cared and supported her kids and family, will have a wonderful day! Get spoiled, Mums!

Sheryl Sandberg’s book Lean In: Women, Work and the Will to Lead encourages working mums to not hold back by sharing her personal stories of struggle and success. She paid tribute to her mum and all the amazing mums that she has met.

This is what she said about her mum : “My earliest inspiration and role model is my mom, She has taught me so much by example — what it means to work hard, to find joy, and to give back”.

Being a mum is never an easy task. Being a mum requires a lots of energy from you as you have a full to-do list every day, looking after everyone in the house plus work, house chores, problem-solving etc. How can you do all of these and still have time for yourself, stay calm when you are exhausted? How about being a single mum? How about having a child ( or any family member) that needs extra care and attention? The list to drain your energy goes on and on…

It is exactly because of all of these, we need to make effort and have commitment to maintain fit and healthy. Don’t we all know that a healthy mum is a happy mum?!

Mums need to have strategies and practical tools to stay calm and strong, need help and support from time to time from family and friends no matter how resilient you are. Remember you are not alone, everyone needs someone for help.

There are plenty choices for mums to stay fit and strong. However many mums are time-poor with so much to do and so little time for herself. That is why I have made a few short Tai Chi and Qi Gong videos as a Mother’s Day’s gift for any mum who wants to try and stays calm and strong.
