Empowerment starts with self-care knowledge
April 2025
Welcome everyone to our April newsletter :)
You may experience the seasonal change with temperature difference from early morning to noon and late night. The environment can have small or big impact on our body, particularly on those with compromised immune system, comorbidities and allergies.
I went to a workshop last week at Pullman Adelaide with another 80 attendees. During this one-day event, there are quite a few people coughing and sneezing around though they are consciously covering themselves and sitting at the corner. A few friends of mine are going through flu and other health challenges at this moment. While I wish they are getting better soon, I wonder if it is related with seasonal change and what people would normally do.
Our ancestors have done many studies to try to understand our environment, so we, human being, can co-exist better with our planet.
Over last century, we have significantly advanced our science and medicine, aiming at solving our health problems, including physical and mental health.
However, these days I have frequently heard real stories about people’s experience with health challenges and struggles. Feeling powerless to get better or help others sucks.
Empowerment starts with knowledge.
Looking after yourself is the first and most important job. Without your own good health, it is hard to look after others. I know so many of us are still putting others’ needs first.
Empowerment starts with self-care knowledge.
Many Chinese characters have deep meaning, reflecting how human connects with environment and self. For example “氣” , meaning life essence, energy and spirit.
The top part “氣” refers to the air (air that we breathe in and out, essence of life). Think for a moment, we breath in life Qi from nature, and give a small part of us back through out-breath. The connection between us and nature is inevitable and natural.
The bottom part “氣” indicates rice and cooking process, referring to food/diet that provides us with nutrition for life.
A simple Chinese character with two components covers life essence, internally and externally.
Knowledge is important, however, without action, your goals can only be talked, not fulfilled. We all know it.
On 26th April, we will celebrate World Tai Chi & Qi Gong Day with “One World, One Breath” theme. More information about this FREE event is at https://meridian-connection.com.au/20250426-world-tai-chi-day/
