Tai Chi – Create Time and Space for Pause & Recalibrate

April 2026

Welcome everyone to our April newsletter.

Happy Easter! I hope you all have had some lovely time over Easter holiday :)

April comes from the Latin word aperire, meaning “to open”, which aligns with the themes of new beginnings, and spiritual awakening. It is also associated with Venus, the goddess of love and beauty, encouraging harmony, self-care and nurturing relationship.

Among all of these, I put self-care first based on love, loving for yourself and others. Without good health and joy within, it is hard to offer ongoing physical and mental support to your loved ones.

This month I invite you to pause more, reflect on every challenge you’ve got through, make more time and space for self-care, eat and sleep well, take a daily Tai Chi ritual as a nurturing tool (use the 8 Tai Chi tips I shared in March newsletter :)).

Seasonal changes can have a dramatic impact on many people, particularly on those who have compromised health conditions. To transit smoothly from summer to autumn, we need to strengthen our immune systems, look after our heart and lungs, lubricate our joints as the weather is getting colder.

Your mind – how you see and feel about self, plays an equally important role, as your body does, to your overall health and wellbeing. Thus, one’s mind, like a beautiful garden needs regular trimming and pruning, requires regular practice to let things go and create clear space.

Since 2012, I founded the Meridian Connection Tai Chi school to offer authentic Tai Chi and Qi Gong programs in Adelaide, focusing on local communities with one vision: empower people for better health and wellbeing through Tai Chi.

The most rewarding achievement is to see people enjoy doing Tai Chi and improve their health as one by-product from Tai Chi practice. Our well-structured Tai Chi and Qi Gong programs are designed to support your health needs regardless your ages and fitness level. You don’t need anything else in the Tai Chi class apart from your whole self, an open mind and willingness to let go and learn. If you are curious about what others think about our classes, simply google “Meridian Connection Tai Chi ” for review.

Term 2 classes will start on 15th Wednesday and 17th Friday April respectively. We have Two Friday morning classes in the new term, hopefully no one has to wait for another term because there is no space available!

From classic Qi Gong 18 Set 1 and 2, to Tai Chi for Beginners 12 form, during term 2, we have combined each class with warm-up, Qi Gong and breathwork, Tai Chi practice to understand holistic movements, as well as cooling-down.

Qi Gong 18 Set 1 focuses on the upper body Qi (energy) stimulation, particularly for cardio-respiratory system health. By moving Qi and blood in a mindful and more efficient way, your internal organs and headspace will be nourished for stronger immune system and better function.

Qi Gong 18 Set 2 emphasises more the lower body Qi (energy) stimulation, particularly for muscular strengthening, balance, grounding and energy extension.

Tai Chi for Beginners 12 form Part 2 will be practised, which has fundamental Tai Chi movements to help you learn Tai Chi at ease while enjoying Tai Chi health benefits.

It is exciting that Tai Chi 12 Fan will be introduced at Wednesday class. If you have learned before, it would be great to revisit and refine it. If you are a beginner, you can learn from the start with step-by-step instruction in person.

We train subtleness, alertness and sensitivity through gentle, mindful, coordinated and controlled movements. As a result, we will achieve a sharp and clear mind, an agile and strong body, with more flow and inner joy over time.

Online registration is open now https://meridian-connection.com.au/classes/. There is a brief introduction of our classes can be watched here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1MR_8nx8MI. To avoid disappointment, please secure your spots, indicate which class or classes you enrol for. If you enrol for 2 class in one term, you receive 10% discount.

If you are new to Tai Chi and Qi Gong, welcome to Term 2. If you have done Tai Chi for many years, I hope you can go beyond the forms, experiencing a deeper sensation in grounding, in breath, in your mind-body flow and internal serenity.

Whatever stage you are on, I am keen to hear from you about how you pause and recalibrate through Tai Chi.

Last but not least, for those who enjoyed or missed the Tai Chi for Body Posture, Grounding and Strengthening workshop in March, the next one (new learning content of Tai Chi Walking and interactive practice) is on 2nd May. More details is at https://meridian-connection.com.au/20260502-workshop/. There are only 3 spots left. Book it now to learn how to align breathing and movements.

From one of the participants at the March workshop,
“A key learning for me was about noticing & refining the contrast between tension and engagement, relaxation and release, and those connecting points of transition in the movement.”

I look forward to seeing you in the Tai Chi class and at the May workshop soon.

Stay well,
Fang & the Team
